Booking terms

Getting married should be simple, and so should the fine print. Here's how booking a ceremony with me works.

Booking

When you book through my assistant or the form, I hold the time for you, and I confirm every booking with you personally. Your ceremony is booked once I've confirmed it. Ceremonies start between 10 am and 7:30 pm, any day, and same-day ceremonies are fine with at least 3 hours' notice.

Price

The price is the price. I'll tell you the total, travel included, when I confirm your booking.

Paying

There's no deposit. You pay in person when we meet, before the ceremony starts and before anything is signed. I take cash, Venmo, Cash App, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and tap-to-pay cards (I can't take chip-only or swiped cards).

Cancelling or rescheduling

Plans change. You can cancel or move your date at no charge. Just let me know as soon as you can, so I can free up the time.

Your marriage license

Getting a valid Michigan marriage license is up to you, and I can't legally marry you without one. A few things to know:

If you don't have a valid license on the day, we'll pick a new date, at no charge.

Witnesses and ID

Bring two witnesses, both 18 or older, and a photo ID for each of you. I'll check your IDs against your license before we begin.

Timing

I'll be there on time. If you or your witnesses are running late, I'll wait up to 30 minutes. After that I may have to go, and we'll find another time, at no charge.

The place

You choose where we meet. If it's a park, a business or a venue, please make sure you're allowed to hold a short ceremony there.

Filing your license

After the ceremony, I return your signed license to the county clerk who issued it, within Michigan's 10-day deadline. The clerk records your marriage, and you can order certified copies from them.

Weather

I come rain or shine. If you'd rather move inside or change the date because of the weather, just let me know, at no charge.

Bigger weddings and rehearsals

A bigger wedding, with guests and a wedding party, is $449 plus travel, and I'm there 45 minutes to an hour. I can come to your rehearsal for $149 more (plus travel, if it's farther out). We'll talk through the details before I confirm.

Vow renewals

A vow renewal is a ceremony, not a legal marriage, so there's no license to sign or file.

If I can't make it

If illness or an emergency keeps me from your ceremony, I'll tell you as soon as I can and help you find a new time. You won't pay for a ceremony that doesn't happen.
